PEORIA, Ill.- The Western Illinois men's tennis team took the doubles point but lost four singles matches, falling to Bradley, 4-3.
The Leathernecks (0-4) started the match out by taking two out of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles senior
Zach Frisch and sophomore
Francisco Ortiz defeated Callen Fraychineaud and Milos Romic, 8-4. At No. 2 doubles, seniors
Sean Ragee-Nelson and
Michael Schild beat Bradley's
Mitch Osborne and Evgeny Samoylov, 8-3.
Western was only able to take two of the six singles matches after taking the doubles point. At No. 4 singles, Ragee-Nelson defeated Michel Macara-chvili, 7-5, 6-1. Freshman
Jim Capalbo picked up his first collegiate victory, beating Trevor McGrath in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.
The Leathernecks host Northern Illinois for their season opener, Saturday, February 7, at Lakeside Racquet Club in Galesburg, Ill.
