Bainter was a three-sport standout at Macomb High School, excelling in football, basketball and baseball. He was named to the all-Olympic Conference team as a junior and senior. In 2001, he was named to the Peoria Journal Star All-Area First Team, the Illinois Coaches Association All-State Team, and the Macomb Journal All-Area First Team. He also earned the KHQA Channel 7 Illinois Defensive Player of the Year award as a senior, and was selected for the July 2002 ICA Shriners All-Star Game. He returns to the baseball field this spring as the reigning Macomb Journal Player of the Year.
Battista earned a spot on the all-conference first team and was the conference MVP runner-up. He passed for 1,143 yards and six touchdowns as a senior, while rushing for 492 yards and eight touchdowns. He also recorded four receptions for 58 yards and one score, recording 1,693 yards of total offense in his last season. Battista has also lettered in basketball, track and baseball.
Baylark was a two-time team captain and three-time first team all-district player, and he earned all-state honors as a senior. He was nominated to the KBUR/KGRS all-prep team and was selected to the All- Hawkeye Land team. He led his team into two consecutive state playoff appearances, and also competed as an all-conference basketball player.
Bodiford lettered three years in high school, being named to the All-Dade County Second Team as a senior and the honorable mention list as a junior. He recorded 139 tackles as a senior, including 62 initial hits, had 10 sacks, caused five fumbles and recovered two fumbles. Bodiford helped the team post a three-year conference record of 12-2.He redshirted during his freshman year at Iowa and has three years of eligibility remaining.
DiGrino was a three-year starting linebacker who earned all-state honorable mention recognition as a senior. He was also named to the KHQA All-Area, Macomb Journal All-Area and all-Olympic conference teams while earning Macomb Journal Defensive Player of the Year honors as a senior. He also lettered in baseball and wrestling, earning the Olympic Conference championship in consecutive years and winning the regional championship as a junior.
Glasford was a four-time nomination to the all-Dade County team and earned all-state honorable mention honors as a sophomore. He set records for longest reception, most carries and most yards in a game. His career rushing stats total 3,747 yards, and he also excelled as the starting point guard.
Huber was a Daily Herald all-area and a unanimous all-conference selection who helped his squad to a 2001 Illinois State playoff berth. He also participated in ice hockey and water polo.
Khaleel earned honors on both sides of the ball as a senior, being named to the all-conference and all-district first teams on offense, and the all-conference and all-area second teams on defense. In addition to leading his football team to a conference championship, he has excelled in basketball and track.
McAdams was a member of the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference championship team in 2001, and was ranked the fifth-highest junior college quarterback in the nation. In high school, McAdams was the top-ranked junior quarterback in Northern Virginia, according to the Fairfax Journal, and was named the McLean Times Athlete of the Week. He was the number one-ranked quarterback in the Metro Area (Northern Virginia, Maryland, D.C.), a first team all-Arlington and second team all-conference player as a senior, capping his career as the starting quarterback for the WCAC all-star game played at RFK Stadium.
Rivers competed in football and track, earning all-conference, all-state and all-American honors. He helped lead his team to the 2001 Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (shared) championship. Rivers is the first cousin of St. Louis Rams' fullback Robert Holcombe.
Sowers was named to the All-Olympic Conference First Team, the KHQA Tri-State Area First Team and the Macomb Journal All-Area First Team. He was also named the Macomb Downtown Athletic Club Area MVP and the WLRB Athlete of the Week, and was twice named the team's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman. Sowers also competed in basketball and baseball, and was a member of the academic all-conference team, the National Honor Society and Who's Who Among American High School Students.
Tetzel was an honorable mention all-conference and all-state player who also competed in wrestling. He led his junior college team to consecutive bowl appearances while earning all-conference honors in both seasons.
Ward was an all-conference player on both offense and defense in high school, earning first team all-city honors and second team all-district recognition. He also participated in track and field as well as basketball. He redshirtted as a freshman at Minnesota and has three years of eligibility remaining.
Washington earned all-state honors and was recognized as the all-region Player of the Year and the all-area Player of the Year for two consecutive seasons. He led the conference in rushing twice during his career. He excelled as a hard-hitting defensive back at Georgia Military College, leading them to an undefeated season and the 2001 junior college national championship.
