Western Illinois track and field runner Josh Thomas (Farmington, Mo./Farmington) has been named Papa John's Scholar-Athlete of the Week Monday (Feb. 16)  for his performance on the track this past weekend at the Monmouth College Fighting Scot Invite.

Thomas led the Western Illinois men with a second place finish in the 60-meter hurldles and a sixth place finish in the 400-meter run. Both times were personal records for the Farmington, Missouri native. 

Thomas also ran as a part of the 4x400-meter relay team that finished fifth. Earlier this season he turned in a school-record finish in the 400-hurdles at the Jack Jennett Invite hosted by Northern Iowa.

Thomas has a 3.437 GPA while majoring in Meteorology.
