Carrissa Tinsley was named the Hampton Inn Scholar-Athlete for the month of April. The graduating senior is a standout thrower for the Western Illinois track and field program, and she holds school rankings in the following events: sixth all-time in indoor shot put, 10th in indoor weight throw, and 10th in outdoor shot put.Â
What is your favorite part about Western Illinois?
"That it's a home away from home. Western has given me so many different friendships and opportunities that I'm thankful to have."
Do you have a pre-meet routine?
"I don't really have a pre-meet routine. I usually try to get good amount of sleep and make sure I have everything I need for the meet before I leave my room."
What are your plans for after graduation?
"After graduation, I'm returning to Western to get my master's in sports management."
What is your favorite hobby outside of sports?
"I love to swim or color in one of my coloring books when I have free time."
What movie can you watch over and over without ever getting tired of it?
"Toy Story 4. I watch it all the time with my nephews because it's their favorite movie."
What food have you never eaten but would really like to try?
"Jackfruit."
What's the best / worst practical joke that you've played on someone or that was played on you?
"One time, I put makeup on my brother's face while he was napping on the couch."
