Nathan Erickson was selected the Hampton Inn Scholar-Athlete for the month of September.
The junior kicker is currently 4-for-6 in field goals with a perfect 8-for-8 effort in point-after attempts. He paces Western in scoring with a team-high 20 points.
Why did you choose to attend Western Illinois University?
- The people here made it feel like home. I knew when I stepped on campus, that this was my type of place.
What's one piece of technology you can't live without?
- My phone
If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
-Chicks lip fries. (With a side of loaded potato soup)
What is your pregame ritual?
-Listen to music and stay relaxed
Do you have a favorite professional player who you emulate your game after?
- I would say Mason Crosby from the Green Bay Packers. He is the kicker for my favorite NFL team, so it almost comes naturally. Along with the fact I have met him a couple of times, which was really cool.
What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
-Focus on the process, and the results will show for themselves.
If you could play any other sport outside of football, what would it be and why?
-Golf because I've played my whole life but also because it relaxes me just being on the course.
