Jackson Wetherbee led the Leatherneck men's golf team at the Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational to kick off the 2019 spring schedule with a combined two-round score of 148 (+4). He also fired a team-low round of 71 en route to a top-5 finish at the Alabama State Spring Golf Kickoff.
His accomplishments on the course along with his efforts in the classroom landed him Scholar Athlete of the Month.
What is your favorite part about being on Western Illinois golf team?
Being able to travel to some amazing places and the friendships that I have made with all my teammates.
What is your pre-round routine?
I will listen to some music and also think about the shots I am going to have to hit out on the course.
What is your favorite TV show or movie and why?
"Friends" is my favorite show as I never get tired of it.
What is the best piece of advice you've ever received?
I would always look for the one tip or word of advice to make me a great player and my dad once told me that, "The secret to golf is that there is no one secret, it takes hard work and dedication to achieve your biggest goals and aspirations."
What has been your favorite part of being in Macomb?
Having our own university golf course that I can go to at any time to practice.
What are your plans for after graduation?
I really want to turn professional at some point, if that doesn't work out I'd love to be a college golf coach someday.
What is your dream job?
PGA Tour player.

Steak
What is your favorite hobby outside of sports?
Love playing tennis whenever I get spare time.
