With a mark of 5.72 meters, Bo Brasseur moved to seventh all-time on the Leatherneck's indoor long jump list. The performance at the Illini Invitational (Jan. 26) also cemented a personal record and her second 'Top 3' finish of the month.

A few weeks prior, she placed first in a 13-woman field at the Mizzou Intercollegiate (Jan. 11).

Brasseur joins swimming and diving's Samir Almhiemid as the Hampton Inn Scholar-Athletes for the month of January.

Why did you choose to attend Western Illinois University?
I chose Western because they gave me the opportunity to excel not only in track and field but also in my degree, dietetics. Coming to the United States would also give me an opportunity to become well rounded as an individual.

What has been the most memorable moment of your Leatherneck career so far?
The most memorable moment of my freshmen year was during the Summit League Indoor Conference Championships where the 4x400 team received a bronze medal. The team consisted of Alyssa Johnson, Kaliyah Cobb, Sierra Woods, and me. We knew we had a chance of getting a medal, but with sports, you never know what could happen, so we really had to show what we were made of.

Do you have a hobby, outside of your sport?
Track is literally my life. I have been running and competing since I was six years old. I grew up with track, and it has helped me become who I am today.

Do you have any secret talents?
I speak four languages: Dutch is my native language, French is my second, then English, and lastly I know the basics of Spanish.

If you had to listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
The song I would listen to for the rest of my life would be Starlight by Matt Cardle. This song reminds me of the movie called Fast Girls, and it helps me to push and leave it all on the track.

Who would you cast to play you in a movie?
I don't really know who I would cast as myself in a movie; however, I know they would have to have a good work ethic, dedication to what they value, and be caring.
