Matt Igara completed his second season as an assistant for the Leatherneck baseball program in 2014. Igara spent 2013 as a student assistant and 2014 as a volunteer assistant. Prior to being a student assistant, Igara appeared in 112 games during his two-year, standout career with Western Illinois baseball. Â
2012 (Senior): 2012 Winter/Spring Academic All-Summit League... appeared in and started in all 53 games... started all four games at Georgia State... hit safely in three of the four contests... two hits and two runs scored in game three... 4-9 at Bulldog Classic with four RBI and 2 runs scored... 2-3 and two RBI against host Alabama A&M... 2-3, two RBI and two runs scored versus Maryland Eastern Shore... one walk in all three games... 3-13 at Georgia... solo home run in the series opener (ninth inning)... went on an eight-game hitting streak and an 11-game on-base streak... started game one at WKU with a solo home run to LF... tied the game vs. SLU with a home run... picked up a hit in all three games vs. Xavier and drove in a run in the final two games... had a nine-game hitting streak... collected three hits vs. Bradley on 3/31... scored two runs at Iowa... drove in the eventual game-winning run game two in Sunday to score Austin Cowen from first... drove in two runs vs. Eastern Illinois... five hits at Oakland and three RBI... scored three runs in the IPFW series while walking three times in the series finale, a career-high... went 2-for-5 with two RBI on 5/18 at South Dakota State... also drove in two runs on 5/17 with a two-run HR at South Dakota State.Â
2011 (Junior):Â 2011 Summit League Male Athlete of the Month (March)... hit .317 to lead the team and was fifth in the league in hits (76, fourth all-time in program history)... 109 total bases on the year (sixth all-time in program history)... had a 10-game hitting streak... also has 19 doubles on the season which is tied for third in the league and tied for third all-time in program history... led the team with 28 multi-hit games and eight multiple RBI games, which was second on the team... hit home runs in each of the first two games of North Dakota State series.
At Heartland CC
Started all 55 games during his Sophomore season... batted .410 with 80 hits... 22 doubles... 5 triples... 13 HR... was 8th in the country with 83 RBI and a slugging percentage of .774... Also had 151 total bases... Named MWAC All-Conference First Team in 2010... All-Region First Team in 2010... Member of the MWAC championship team, which was the first conference title in program's history.

Hit .406 with six home runs, seven doubles and drove in 33 RBI... Three year letterwinner and starer...All-Conference 1st Team in 2007-08... All-Area 1st Team in 2008... Team MVP in 2008... Named one of Top 100 players in the state of Illinois in 2007Â
