MACOMB, Ill. – Leatherneck Athletics hosted its 37th Annual Purple and Gold Gala on
Saturday, August 15, in the Western Illinois University Union Grand Ballroom, bringing together
more than 300 alumni, donors, fans, coaches and friends of Leatherneck Athletics for an
evening of celebration and support.

The evening featured a social hour, silent auction, dinner with a variety of food stations, two
outstanding guest speakers with current WIU Women's Basketball Player, Kaylen Reed and
former WIU Men's Basketball player Arsenio Mims, and then a live auction. Guests had the
opportunity to bid on a wide range of exclusive items and experiences and enjoy a short but
purposeful program prior to the live auction!

The annual event raised nearly $90,000 for Leatherneck Athletics, continuing the Purple and
Gold Gala's tradition as one of the department's premier fundraising events. Proceeds from the
evening will help support the overall student-athlete experience and provide valuable resources
for Leatherneck teams and programs.

"Almost $90,000 was raised in one night. That says a lot about the passion people have for
Leatherneck Athletics. We're incredibly grateful to everyone who showed up, gave generously,
and made this year's Purple & Gold Auction a huge success.", said Purple and Gold Co-Chair
Seth Minter. Co-Chair Joe Roselieb added, "As we start a new academic year, it is inspiring to
see our community come together to invest in the success of our student-athletes and the future
of Western Illinois Athletics. Thank you to the various businesses and individuals who provided
items for our silent and live auctions and to those who came out to support this annual tradition."

The Purple and Gold Gala continues to provide an opportunity for the Leatherneck community
to come together and celebrate the accomplishments of Western Illinois student-athletes while
helping provide the resources necessary for their continued success.

"What made the Purple and Gold Gala special wasn't simply the amount of money raised. It was
seeing more than 300 people come together because they care about our student-athletes,
Leatherneck Athletics, and Western Illinois University. Our coaches, staff, volunteers, alumni,
and supporters created a winning moment for our student-athletes, Athletics, WIU and our
community", said Acting Administrator in Charge of Athletics, Jeremy Robinett.
Leatherneck Athletics would like to thank all of the individuals, businesses, alumni, donors,
volunteers and supporters who contributed to the success of the 37th Annual Purple and Gold
Gala.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Western Illinois Athletics and enhance the NCAA
Division I experience for Leatherneck student-athletes.
