MACOMB, IL- The Western Illinois University men's golf team competed this week at the Hawkeye Invitational, hosted by Iowa out in Riverside, Iowa. The tournament was a three-round game, covering 54 holes.
Day 1:
Western Illinois opened play with a solid start, led by Mateo Rascon's 71 (-1). Easton Korell followed with a 74 (+2). Owen Howe added a 76 (+4), with Julian Ortiz turning in a 79 (+7). Bayden Hubacher rounded out the day with a 81 (+9).
Day 2:
The Leathernecks responded with a stronger showing in round two, highlighted by Owen Howe recording 73 (+1). Mateo Rasco and Julian Ortiz followed behind, each scoring 74 (+2). Easton Korell and Bayden Hubacher rounded out the day with an 77 (+5) each.
Day 3:
WIU continued to show their strength through round three, with Mateo Rascon taking the lead and 74 (+2). Julian Ortiz recorded a 75 (+3), with Owen Howe and Easton Korell following closely behind with 78 (+6). Bayden Hubacher wrapped up the tournament with an 83 (+11).
