WIU Men's Golf Kicks Off Spring Season at Jackrabbit Invitational

Macomb, IL - The Western Illinois Men's Golf team kicks their season off at the Jackrabbit Invitational on Monday, Sep. 9, and Tuesday, Sep. 10. This is the first of four tournaments for the Men's golf team this spring. 

Returning Big Names

Western Illinois returns three players from last year's squad. Bayden Hubacher and Nathan Tillman highlight the three returners. Hubacher and Tillman played in all four events last season. The final returner is a Burlington, IA native, Mateo Rascon. Rascon also played in all four events from the previous season, with his best finish being a tie for 18th at the OVC Championships. The Leathernecks also welcome back Johnston, IA native Owen Howe, who tied for 38th at the OVC Championships. Maverick Schwabe returns to WIU after placing 29th at the OVC Championships. 

New Faces 

Easton Korell comes to WIU from New Sharon, Iowa, where he placed first for the Western Iowa Junior Open with the River Valley Golf Club. The Leathernecks also welcome Julian Ramon Ortiz, who comes from San Luis Potosí, Mexico.

Golf Course 

The Jackrabbit Invitational is held on the Boulder Creek Golf Course. The course is a par 72 that plays 6,964 yards. The Jack Rabbit Invitational is a two-round tournament, with round one taking place on Monday and round two taking place on Tuesday.
