Leathernecks Take on Morehead State  Â
Western Illinois heads back home for a conference series against Morehead State. In last year's series the Leathernecks were swept by the Eagles at Morehead. The Leathernecks will look to win their first OVC series of 2026.
Kansas City Recap Â
Western Illinois fell 8-0 against Kansas City on the road Wednesday afternoon.
The Leathernecks were limited to five hits in the contest, with Angie Ortiz, Kam Utendorf, Payton Brown, Maria Luna, and Alijah Williams each recording one. Ortiz, Brown, and Williams all tallied doubles, but Western Illinois was unable to push a run across.
Audrey Clark took the loss, allowing two unearned runs over three innings of work. The Leathernecks used three other pitchers in the contest with Kathryn McChristy, Lillie Wools, and Libby Spaulding all seeing time on the mound.Â
Scouting Morehead State Â
Morehead State comes into the matchup with a 1–19 overall record as well as 0-6 in conference play. Morehead State's lineup is anchored by a pair of consistent hitters in Maddy Christopher and Sage VanDemark. Christopher leads the Eagles with a .365 average to go along with 27 hits. VanDemark is batting .328 with 15 RBIs.Â
On the mound, the Eagles rely on Allicen Harris, Ainsley Stubbs, and Rylie Burney. Stubbs leads the group with 45 strikeouts, while Harris has the lowest ERA.Â
