Utendorf starred at Columbus Grove High School, earning two-time Ohio All-State honors, three-time All-District, All-Conference, and All-League recognition, and was both Conference and League Player of the Year in 2022. She holds multiple school records, including a career batting average of .547, career on-base percentage of .648, most hits in a game (5), most stolen bases in a game (6), most doubles in a game (3), and most runs scored in a game (5).
Utendorf continued her softball career at Black Hawk College, where she was named 1st Team All-Region 4, Region 4 All-Tournament Team, 1st Team Arrowhead Conference, Arrowhead Conference Player of the Year, and Black Hawk College Female Student-Athlete of the Year. She also earned All-American Scholar Athlete honors and ranked 3rd in the nation in triples, finishing with a .434 batting average, .493 on-base percentage, and a 1.073 OPS, leading the region with 221 plate appearances and only eight strikeouts.
She later played at Valparaiso University, earning CSC Academic All-District honors and MVC Newcomer of the Week, and at Kent State University, where she was named 2025 CSC Academic All-District and 2025 All-American Scholar Athlete.
