MACOMB, Ill. - The Western Illinois University men's golf program has announced the signing of Yuchin Chen to join the Leathernecks for the upcoming season.
Chen comes to Western Illinois from Kaohsiung Municipal Sanmin Senior High School in Taiwan, bringing with him an impressive international résumé and national team experience. During his junior year, Chen was selected to represent his country as a member of the 2024 Taiwan Golf National Team, competing among the top players in the region.
As a sophomore, Chen posted strong performances on the junior circuit, including a fifth-place finish at the AJGA Utah Open (T5) and a top-eight finish at the CT Pan Foundation Junior Championship (T8). He also competed in the Kevin Harvick Foundation Junior Championship, gaining valuable experience in elite-level fields. Chen claimed medalist honors at the Kuntin Construction Championship (T1) and competed in the 2025 National High School Championship during his freshman year.
Chen trained and competed out of Nan Yi Golf Country Club, continuing to refine his game in a competitive environment known for developing high-level talent.
"I chose Western Illinois University because I felt a strong connection with the coaching staff and the team culture," Chen said. "From my first conversation with the coaches, I knew they genuinely believed in my potential both as a player and as a person.

Chen plans to study business at Western Illinois and will add international experience, competitive consistency, and championship pedigree to the Leathernecks' lineup as the program continues to build momentum.
