Leatherneck Women’s Bowling Continues Their Season at Nebraska Invite

MACOMB, Ill. – The Western Illinois University women's bowling team continues strong on the tail end of their season by going to Nebraska.

WHERE | Lincoln, NE | Hollywood Bowl

LAST TIME OUT | Western Illinois turned in its strongest scoring performance of the season at the Flyer Classic, earning five match wins and posting a season-best 183.0 team average across 67 games. The Leathernecks totaled 12,250 pins in a competitive 26-team field, highlighted by a 1,027 traditional team game and consistent production throughout the weekend.

ABOUT THE LEATHERNECKS | Western Illinois University bowling is set to begin the season with eight new additions to the roster.

The Leathernecks welcome a mix of experience and fresh talent to the program this year. Joining the team are senior Melina Eresby of Villahermosa, Mexico; freshman Skylar Houseman of Moline, Illinois; sophomore Skylar Huber of Bradshaw, Nebraska; freshman Jaydyn Hunting of Lexington, Kentucky; and freshman Maleena Moreno of San Antonio, Texas. Also joining the squad are freshman Angela Steinke of Rothschild, Wisconsin, sophomore Heather Walker of Mentor, Ohio, and graduate student Cassidy Williams of New Ulm, Minnesota.

The program will be led by head coach Derek Sapp, a Western Illinois alumnus who competed on the Leatherneck men's bowling team. Sapp brings valuable experience to the role, most recently serving as the head bowling coach at Culver-Stockton College.
