MACOMB, IL — Western Illinois University pole vaulter Arnie Grunert has been recognized as one of the nation's top outdoor collegiate athletes, earning a spot on the 2026 NCAA Men's Top 10 Outdoor Eligibles list published by Track & Field News. Grunert is listed among the top collegiate pole vaulters heading into the 2026 outdoor season, marking another milestone in his standout career.
Grunert, a key member of the Leatherneck track & field program, appears at No. 10 in the NCAA Outdoor Pole Vault rankings with a mark of 18 feet, 6½ inches (5.65m) which is a testament to his consistency and high-level performance against elite competition.
This recognition follows a historic 2025 season in which Grunert set the Western Illinois program record with a vault of 5.65m and advanced through NCAA competition as one of the nation's top vaulters.
As the Leathernecks prepare for the 2026 outdoor season, Western Illinois will look to Grunert to build on his momentum and continue his success on the national stage.
