WIU Men's Golf Finishes First Tournament Of The Spring

BOULDER CITY, NEV-  The Leatherneck Men's golf team wrapped up their first tournament of the Spring on Saturday afternoon, as they finished in ninth place as a team shooting a +75 at the Jackrabbit Invitational. 

Owen Howe lead the way for WIU, finishing in 35th place shooting a +18 for the tournament. Howe's best round came in round two where he shot a 76 (+4), finishing with two birdies and 10 pars. As a team, the Leathernecks shot a +24 in round two, their best out of all three rounds. Luke Lofgren shot a 78 (+6) in round two, getting four birdies on the front nine, including back-to-back birdies on holes 3 + 4, as well as on holes 8 + 9 to finish with a front nine score of 34 (-2). Lofgren would finish the tournament in 43rd place (+21), which was the second best for WIU. 

Baptiste Labeyrie finished in 47th place shooting a +22, followed by Mateo Rascon (+23) and Nathan Tillman (+27). 

The Leathernecks will return to the course on March 17-18 for the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate in Springfield, Missouri hosted by Missouri State.
