Roos Rematch:
Western Illinois will take on Kansas City on Tuesday, finishing off a home-and-home. Western lost to Kansas City 0-2 on March 12, a game that saw Western only collect one hit, and a solid outing from starting pitcher Emily Price, who allowed just two hits in five innings with no earned runs. Kansas City currently sits in fourth place in a seven-team Summit League, with a 19-27 overall record. Junior utility player Lexy Smith leads the way at the plate for the Roos and is the team's leader in batting average, on-base-plus-slugging, home runs, and runs batted in.

Meet the Screaming Eagles:
Southern Indiana comes to Macomb entering the final weekend of conference play with a 14-10 conference record, currently saddled in fourth place in the OVC. Winning four of their last five games, the Screaming Eagles have been one of the top pitching teams in the conference, boasting a 2.70 ERA on the season, ranked third. Staying in the circle, junior Josie Newman has been arguably the most dominant pitcher in the conference. She leads all OVC pitchers with 183.2 innings pitched and is third among qualified pitchers with a 1.72 ERA.

Senior Day:
The Leathernecks will honor six seniors this Sunday, around 11:10 AM, before the season finale vs. Southern Indiana. Kayla DePoorter, Jorja Hudson, Abrianna Gracia, Gabriela Drager, Emily Price, and Bella Alvarez will all be honored in the ceremony.

Premier Pitcher:
Leatherneck pitcher Emily Price has had a stellar senior season in the circle. Price ranks in the top ten in the conference in many categories, including ranking fourth in innings pitched (143) and strikeouts (125), and tenth in wins (7). In her third year with the Leathernecks, Price has improved her ERA every year, after posting a team-high 3.41 mark in 2023.

Youth Movement:
Against Southeast Missouri State last weekend, Western Illinois started all five freshmen in both Friday games, the first time all five have been in the lineup together all season. Malia Robertson, Valerie Combs, Sophia Sanchez, Lillie Wools, and Kayden Porter have all made an impact this season in their first year in the Leatherneck uniform.

Going National:
On Monday, April 1, USA Softball announced that Leathernecks' head coach Alisa Goler will be an assistant coach for the Elite and U-18 teams this summer. Goler, in her fourth year with the Leathernecks, stated "It's a great honor for me, earning this opportunity to coach these teams. Working for USA Softball is the highest honor as a softball coach, and I am grateful for this opportunity."

OVC Honors:
Leatherneck senior Bella Alvarez picked up Western Illinois' first conference honor of the year on February 26. The corner infielder was tabbed the OVC's Player of the Week after racking up 10 RBIs, two home runs, and two doubles as she batted above .400 in an eight-game stretch.
