About the Redhawks:
The 2023 OVC regular season champions currently hold second place in the conference, just one spot behind Eastern Illinois with a conference record of 15-6. The Redhawks are rolling, on a six-game winning streak in conference play, most recently sweeping Lindenwood in three shutout victories. In conference play, SEMO has been dominating in the circle, with a 2.06 ERA. At the plate, the Redhawks are raking with a .829 team OPS against OVC competition, led by catcher Marissa Peek who's hit six home runs in just 47 conference at-bats.

Premier Pitcher:
Leatherneck senior Emily Price had a great showing in game one against Tennessee State, pitching 6.1 innings without allowing an earned run. Price ranks in the top ten in the conference in many categories, including ERA (2.58), innings pitched (124.2), strikeouts (112), and wins (7). In her third year with the Leathernecks, Price has improved her ERA every year, after posting a team-high 3.41 mark in 2023.

Going National:
On Monday, April 1, USA Softball announced that Leathernecks' head coach Alisa Goler will be an assistant coach for the Elite and U-18 teams this summer. Goler, in her fourth year with the Leathernecks, stated "It's a great honor for me, earning this opportunity to coach these teams. Working for USA Softball is the highest honor as a softball coach, and I am grateful for this opportunity."

OVC Honors:
Leatherneck senior Bella Alvarez picked up Western Illinois' first conference honor of the year on February 26. The corner infielder was tabbed the OVC's Player of the Week after racking up 10 RBIs, two home runs, and two doubles as she batted above .400 in an eight-game stretch.

Coming Up:
Western Illinois will be back at home following the conclusion of this weekend's series. The Leathernecks will take on Kansas City on Tuesday, April 30, then wrap up the year with a three-game homestand against Southern Indiana from May 4-5.
