Borchardt Named Senior Woman Administrator

| By:
MACOMB -- Western Illinois University Director of Athletics Paul A. Bubb announced the promotion of Shelby Borchardt, Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations, to include the position of Senior Woman Administrator.

"I am very happy to have Shelby accept these additional responsibilities as our Senior Woman Administrator," Bubb said. "She has continued to grow and demonstrate sound leadership in her current role.  I know she will do a great job as an advocate for our female student-athletes and our women's sport programs."

In her expanded role, Borchardt will represent the athletics department on various University as well as Ohio Valley Conference committees.

"I'm honored to serve as the next SWA," stated Borchardt.  "Athletics has played a vital role throughout my life and career, providing me many positive opportunities and experiences. We have hardworking, strong, female student-athletes, coaches, staff and administrators in this department that I'm excited to advocate, promote and serve."

Borchardt is responsible for overseeing human resources for the athletic department as well as assisting with the business operations, managing game contracts, directing ticket operations, assisting with athletics' special events, and serving as the sport administrator for softball, cross country, track and field, and the cheerleading program.

"Since my service began as the Director of Athletics, Ms. Borchardt has stepped up and met every challenge I have asked her to take on," continued Bubb. "I feel fortunate to have someone with her dedication as a member of our senior staff and look forward to continuing my work with her for the benefit of Leatherneck Athletics."

Shelby Borchardt began her tenure with Western as the ticket operations manager in July of 2015 before being named the Assistant Director for Ticketing, Events, and Annual Fund in May of 2017. She continued in that role until being named the Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations in March of 2022.

Borchardt received her bachelor's degree in sport management with a minor in management from St. Ambrose University in May 2013 and received her master's degree in sport management from Western Illinois University in May 2015. While completing master's program, Borchardt assisted in the WIU compliance office.
