Adams Named OVC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. -- Western Illinois' Aliyah Adams big opening of the indoor track and field season garnered even more attention as she was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.

At last week's Jimmy Grant Invitational, Adams broke a pair of Leatherneck indoor track and field records.

In the 60 meter hurdles, Adams bested Penny Sellers' 40-year program record, running the event in 8.64 seconds. Adams was not done yet setting program record, setting a new program mark in the long jump, winning the event with a best effort of 6.1 meters.

Adams also finished second in the triple jump at the Grant Invite, leaping 12.23 meters.

The Leathernecks are off for the holidays, returning to action on January 20.
