Lutz Named All-Summit Academic

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –  Elizabeth Lutz was named to the Summit League All-Academic team, the Summit League announced on Wednesday (April 6). Lutz was also recognized as a member of the All-Defensive team after averaging 11.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game while leading the team and league in steals.
 
Lutz holds a 4.0 GPA as a triple major in communications, sociology and anthropology. She was Western Illinois' recipient of the 2021-22 Lincoln Academy of Illinois' Student Laureate Award. The prestigious award is presented annually to an outstanding senior of each of Illinois' four-year degree-granting institutions and honors a student's overall academic excellence and participation in extracurricular activities. On the court, Lutz led the league in steals averaging 2.2 per game and finished second on the team in rebounds at an average of 4.7 per game and finished the season as the team leader in minutes played. Her efforts during the season earned her a spot on the All-Defensive team.
 
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one, full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of her team's competitions.
 
Nominations are brought forth by sports information directors from the league's 10 institutions and voting is conducted by both the SIDs and facility athletic representatives (FARs). The team is made up of the five student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
