MVFC honors WIU football players

Leathernecks earn all academic honors

ST. LOUIS – Forty-five student-athletes highlight the 2021 Missouri Valley Football Honor Roll, as announced by the league office today.
Those 45 student-athletes earned the league's highest academic achievement by capturing the Missouri Valley Football Conference President's Council Academic Excellence Award.
Hunter Mason was Western Illinois' recipient of the President's Council Academic Award.
The President's Council Academic Excellence Award requires a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average (through Fall 2021 semester) and participation in athletics a minimum of two years.
The student-athlete must be scheduled to graduate by the end of the summer of 2022.
Also, 324 student-athletes received the league's Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award, which requires a minimum GPA of 3.2 for the previous two semesters (freshmen are not eligible.)
Leathernecks Sam Barkalow, Daniel Carson, Ludovick Choquette, Nick D'Ambra, Juan DeLaCruz, Adam Fellner, Gavin Fuchs, Deshon Gavin, Nathan Karsjens, Dononvan Lacey, Brandon Malkow, Tredan Maronic, Hunter Mason, Christiaan Masucci, Matt Maetterties, Benjamin Nauman, Chimobi Nwokocha, Ty Ojanovac, Mike Ross, Mason Sikes, Tony Tate and James Wilson all received the honor.
In addition, the Missouri Valley Football Conference has announced its 2021 Honor Roll, which recognizes academic achievement of student-athletes. To qualify for the Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have recorded a minimum 3.0 grade point average for a specified term (Fall 2021), must have been a member of the football team, and must have a minimum of 12 hours of enrollment during the fall. More than 700 student-athletes earned Honor Roll recognition.
Western Illinois' Sam Barkalow, Jalen Bey-McKie, Clay Bruno, Daniel Carson, Aidan Chance, Ludovick Choquette, Sam Cook, Nickolas Davenport, Nick D'Ambra, Juan DeLaCruz, Jacob Durocher, Ian Ector, Adam Fellner, Gavin Fuchs, Luke Galbreath, Deshon Gavin, Dimitrious Gkountoudis, Jordan Haven, Darius Joiner, Nathan Karsjens, Dononvan Lacey, Brandon Malkow, Tredan Maronic, Hunter Mason, Christiaan Masucci, Matt Maetterties, Michael McFarlane, Carter Morrow, Benjamin Nauman, Chimobi Nwokocha, Ty Ojanovac, Tristan Pfeiffer, Adam Poundstone, Mike Ross, Mason Sikes, Bradyn Smith, Dylan Tabone, Tony Tate, James Wilson and Jack Whyte were all named to the MVFC Honor Roll.
