Previous matchup: The Leathernecks and Tommies have only matched up once in program history, with Western hitting the road on Oct. 17 of last season and falling 1-0. 10 current Leathernecks played in the matchup, five of whom started. Western out-shot the competition 11-10 (5-2 on target) while taking five corner kicks and drawing 12 fouls, but was unable to find a breakthrough as the UST defense held Western scoreless.

Scouting the opponents: St. Thomas is 6-7-3 but has struggled in recent weeks, falling in each of the last five contests played. Sitting in the middle of the pack among Summit League teams for scoring (1.3 per game – fifth) and opponent scoring (1.3 per game – sixth), the Tommy offense boasts five players with multiple goals and four with multiple assists – including Mariah Nguyen, whose five goals, four assists and 14 total points ranks fifth among Summit League players.

So far this season: Western has struggled in recent weeks and is coming off back-to-back losses on the road against Denver and Omaha. The offense has struggled to create goals, with 14 total scored this season ranking seventh in the league, while goalkeeper Isabel Navas Rodriguez leads the league in saves (91) and saves per game (5.7).

Players to watch:  Malerie Rohweder has had a career year in her final season as a Leatherneck, entering Sunday's contest with 14 appearances and 13 starts this season. She's played 939 minutes this season, including the full 90 in a 2-0 victory against Kansas City, and has been described by head coach Josee Primeau as "anchor in the midfield."

After overcoming a major injury last year, Alex Bassen stepped up in a big way for the Leathernecks this season. Bassen enters Sunday's contest having appeared in 15 of the team's 16 games, starting 13. She recorded the first points of her Western Illinois career against Northern Illinois on Sept. 9, finishing with one goal and an assist in a 3-0 victory.

A two-year captain, Amy Andrews has re-written the record book during her five seasons as a Leatherneck, and enters Sunday's game as the program's all-time leading scorer with 34 career goals. Andrews also sits at second in program history for points (72) and goals per game (0.47). Last season, she set single-season program records for goals (12), goals per game, and points, and tied a program record when she scored all four goals in a 4-3 overtime victory against Illinois State on Aug. 26.

What's next: Sunday's game marks the conclusion of Western's 2022 fall season, so get out to John MacKenzie Alumni Field and help send the seniors off with a fantastic atmosphere!
