Baseball Schedule Finalized For 2022 Season

The The Leathernecks will face off against three power five foes and many in-state rivals.

MACOMB, ILL.- Western Illinois Baseball's season opener is right around the corner, as coach Andy Pascoe and company are set to begin their third year together. The Leathernecks finalized their full 2022 schedule, as Western Illinois will start their season on Feb. 18.
 
The month of February will include a pair of three-game series. The first on Feb. 18-20 at Western Kentucky, and the second Feb. 25-27 at University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
 
WIU begins the month of March at Southern Illinois for a one-game matchup vs. the Salukis on March 1. Western Illinois then heads to University of North Carolina at Charlotte for a three-game matchup March 4-6. They continue their road stretch in St. Louis for a one-game test against the St. Louis Billikens on March 8. Coach Pascoe returns to his former team at Butler for a three-game set March 11-13.
 
The first game at Alfred D. Boyer takes place March 15, as the Leathernecks battle the Eagles of Morehead State for a one-game matchup. It's then back on the road the next day at SIU-Edwardsville for a one-game trip.
 
Western Illinois begins Summit League play on the road against newcomer Northern Colorado March 18-20.
 
The first power five matchup occurs March 25-27 at US Bank Stadium against the Minnesota Gophers. Western heads back to Illinois for one game against Bradley on March 30.
 
WIU starts April at home with their second Summit League series, going up against last season's conference champion, North Dakota State, April 1-3. The Leathernecks host longtime rival Illinois State on April 6 for a single contest to continue the historic series between the two programs.
 
Western Illinois hits the road again and will head to Brookings, S.D. for a three-game series against Summit League foe South Dakota State April 8-10. The second power five matchup takes place a few days later when Western takes on Missouri in Columbia for one game on April 12.
 
The team will be back in Macomb as they begin a seven-game homestand vs. last year's Summit League regular-season champion, Oral Roberts, April 15-17. SIU-Edwardsville comes to Leatherneck country on April 19 for the season's second meeting between the two. The homestand concludes with a three-game series vs. Summit League opponent Omaha April 22-24.
 
The Leathernecks head to Iowa City for their third matchup against a power five team, taking on the Iowa Hawkeyes on April 26. The club heads north to the Twin Cities afterward for a three-game series vs. Summit League newcomer St. Thomas April 29-May 1.
 
The final homestand begins May 6, as Western Illinois begins a three-game series vs. Northern Colorado. Senior day will occur May 8. The last home game of the season takes place May 10 vs. Eastern Illinois.
 
Western ends the season with seven road games, starting with a three-game stretch vs. Murray State May 13-15. After another one-game showdown at Eastern Illinois on May 17, the regular season wraps up at North Dakota State for a three-game series May 19-21.
