Leatherneck Baseball Drops Series Finale in 14 Innings, 2-3

MACOMB, Ill.- Western Illinois fell to Lindenwood, 2-3, in 14 innings on Sunday afternoon, finishing with 11 hits, two runs, and one error.

The Leathernecks used four pitchers on the day. Brett Buchanan got the start, allowing two runs. Harrison Dubois followed with 5 scoreless innings, while Eric Rawlings was strong out of the bullpen, tossing 6 shutout innings with seven strikeouts. Karsten Stotlar took the loss, allowing the game-winning run in the 14th.

Lindenwood scored single runs in the second and third innings before being held scoreless until the 14th, when the Lions pushed across the walk-off run. Lindenwood finished with 11 hits and three RBIs.

Western Illinois scored once in the third and again in the seventh to even the game. Josh McClintock and Krayton Morse each drove in a run for the Leathernecks.

As a team, WIU struck out 12 times, leaving 13 runners on base. Lindenwood left 15 runners stranded and did not commit an error defensively.

With the loss, Western Illinois moves to 8-25 overall and 3-9 in conference play.
