Navas Rodriguez Sets Career High for Saves

The sophomore goalkeeper recorded 12 against Milwaukee.

Box Score MILWAUKEE, WIS. – The Western Illinois University Women's Soccer team was on the road again on Sunday (Aug. 22), losing 6-0 to UW-Milwaukee at Engelmann Stadium in Milwaukee.
 
19 players featured for WIU, with seven defenders, seven midfielders and four forwards playing alongside sophomore goalkeeper Isabel Navas Rodriguez. Navas Rodriguez, Lauryn Peters, Bridget Schuler and Angie Knies all played the full 90 minutes.

Navas Rodriguez had a career game, saving 12 of the 26 shots she faced. In 180 total minutes of play this weekend, the sophomore goalkeeper combined to save 19 shots on goal.
 
As a team, Western Illinois combined for ten shots (2 on goal) with four blocked by Milwaukee defenders. They drew 14 fouls and the attackers weren't caught offsides the entire match, and took three corner kicks within an eight-minute timeframe in the latter portions of the game.
 
The Leathernecks will head home for their next matchup, facing off against the Illinois State Redbirds on Thursday (Aug. 26). Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.
