MACOMB, Ill. - The Western Illinois women's soccer team (2-12-1) scored a late second-half goal and outshot South Dakota State (11-0-4) on Friday (April 9) afternoon, but the Jacks held on for a 2-1 victory.Â
Â
After trailing 2-0 into halftime, the Leathernecks turned on the pressure in the second half as 38 seconds in Zoe Clarke put a shot on frame.
WIU outshot SDSU 10-9, with Natalie Nagle leading the way with four and two on goal. Jenna Lundgren and Amy Andrews each finished with two.Â
Â
Andrews continued her dominance and scored her team-leading seventh goal at the 87th-minute mark. The forward has scored seven goals in as many games and is tied for second in the Summit League.Â
Ella Kiely and Bailey Burlingham both provided a spark off the bench and the two linked up for Brinkmann to cross a ball in the box that Andrews one-timed it in the back of the net. The assists marked the first career for the two newcomers.Â
Â
Western nearly tied the final series of the season as Nagle had a look, but her shot was saved.Â

The regular-season finale is set for Sunday (April 11) at 1 p.m. Â
