OMAHA - A late first-half goal by Omaha (8-4-4, 8-4-4) edged the Western Illinois women's soccer team (2-11-1, 2-11-1) 1-0 on Sunday (April 4) afternoon.
The Leathernecks controlled the attack first by earning two quick corner kicks in the 3rd and 5th minutes.
Four different players for WIU fired a shot, with Maddie Hasken and Carolina Gomes both putting one frame. Hasken had a last-second effort in the 88th minute, but the Omaha goalie saved her shot.
The Mavericks scored the lone goal of the game in the 45th minute off a corner kick.
Western Illinois concludes the season next weekend at home versus South Dakota State (April 9 & 11). Both games will be streamed on Leatherneck All-Access.
