MACOMB, Ill. - The Western Illinois men's soccer team (2-6-1, 2-4-1) took the field for its third straight home game on Sunday (March 28). Facing the Eagles of Central Methodist University, play began fast-paced from the jump with some exciting scoring. However, the Leathernecks ultimately fell 2-1 in concluding the afternoon.
Logan Lommel picked up a WIU goal from outside of the box - netting his first of the year. However, CMU scored from a similar distance and kicked in an eye-popping goal from over 20 yards out. The Eagles entered halftime up 2-1 and held on to the lead for the second 45 minutes.
Luke Duball and Ryan DeBois paced the WIU offense with two shots apiece. Seanan Main had five saves in-goal, a game-high.
Western is back at home later this week for a Summit League series versus Kansas City to open up April. Things kick off on Thursday (April 1) at 3 p.m.
