Andrews Scores Two in Setback at South Dakota

Amy Andrews recorded her second career multi-goal game on Friday (March 12) at USD.

VERMILLION, S.D. - Amy Andrews scored two goals for Western Illinois (0-9-0) in a 2-4 setback at South Dakota (2-5-0) on Friday (March 12) evening.

The Leathernecks took advantage of its first corner of the game. Andrews (24') and Lauryn Peters linked up off the opportunity, and Andrews launched a shot outside of the box that the South Dakota goalkeeper couldn't handle for a 1-0 lead.

After entering half down 1-2, WIU erased the Yotes late first-half goals to begin the second half and tie it 2-2.

Bridget Schuler found Jenna Lundgren cutting into to box and slid it over to Andrews, who buried it in the 46th minute. The multi-goal game marked the second of her career as she did it last versus UIC in 2019.

The assists from Lundgren and Peters were their first of the season.

South Dakota responded to the Western push out of the gates and added goals in the 56th and 64th minutes to take game one.

WIU and USD square off again on Sunday (March 14) at 1 p.m.
