Leathernecks Fall at Illinois State

WIU heads to Youngstown, Ohio, on Saturday (Feb. 27) for a doubleheader.

Bloomington, Ill. - The Western Illinois women's tennis team (1-2) fell to in-state rival Illinois State (7-4) 7-0 on Wednesday (Feb. 24) afternoon. 
 
In doubles, the Redbirds earned the first point by winning all three games in straight sets over the Leathernecks. 

In singles play, Lorena Castellanos and Agatha Carbonell played hard but couldn't get the advantage over their opponents as the two freshmen fell 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 and No. 4, respectively. Lucky Kancherla (No. 3), Aina Cortina-Pou (No. 2), Maria Rybka (No. 5), and Mara Vidal (No. 6) were all edged out in straight sets giving the Redbirds the 6-0 singles sweep. 

Western Illinois travels to Youngstown, Ohio, this Saturday (Feb. 27) for a doubleheader against St. Francis (10 a.m.) and Youngstown State (1 p.m.).
