CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Western Illinois football team wrapped its 2021 season in a 41-3 road setback to Northern Iowa.
A second-quarter, 99-yard rushing touchdown was the difference maker in the opening half, and it helped the Panthers take a 10-3 advantage into the locker room. The run was preceded by a pair of field goals -- the second a 23-yard boot by Mason Laramie, which marked one of three WIU opportunities in UNI territory.
Western concluded the season with wins over Youngstown State and Illinois State.

- Darius Joiner recorded a team-high eight tackles (seven solo), while Greg Benton Jr. added seven.
- Five different Leathernecks got to the Panther quarterback for solo sacks.
- Connor Sampson completed 29 passes for 163 yards.
