Biography

SENIOR (2021): Second Team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference... finished his Leatherneck tenure with an exceptional fall campaign... named MVFC Offensive Player of Week on Sept. 19, 2021... ended the season with 311 completions on 477 attempts for 22 passing touchdowns and 3,183 passing yards... became a new program holder in single-season pass completions on Oct. 30, moving past Paul Singer's 239-mark set in 1987... top of the Valley in total offense yards, passing avg./game, pass completions, and pass attempts... Sampson's passing yards total ranked ninth in the FCS… notched a new career-high in passing yards (449) at Indiana State on Oct. 9, 2021… made at least 20 completions in every game… totaled 30 or more completions in three different outings.

SENIOR (2020-21): Second Team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference … MVFC Academic Honor Roll ... started all six games … second-year captain … completed 179 passes for 1744 yards, eight touchdowns, and six interceptions … longest completion went for 62 yards versus South Dakota State … broke school record for most completions in a game (40) versus Northern Iowa … led the MVFC  in passing yards per game (290.7) and in total offense (289.2) … ranked fifth in the nation in completions per game (29.8) and ninth in the nation in passing yards (1744)

JUNIOR (2019): Appeared in all 12 games with 11 starts … completed 231 passes for 2,092 yards with 13 touchdowns … set a school record for the most completions in a single game (34) at Illinois State … recorded his first career start at Northern Iowa … posted a career-high 368 passing yards with three touchdowns at South Dakota and was named MVFC Offensive Player of the Week… longest completion went for 65 yards vs. Montana State ... Western finished with the third-best passing offense in the MVFC with 205.9 yards per game 

SOPHOMORE (2018): Played in six games… completed six passes for 97 yards… set a career-long 39-yard pass against  #1 North Dakota State

REDSHIRT- FRESHMAN (2017): Appeared in four games… threw for 35 yards on 5 completions recording his first career touchdown against at Indiana State… set a career-long of 15 yards in his first appearance at Tennessee Tech… set a career high of 4 completions and 20 passing yards at Indiana State

FRESHMAN (2016): Redshirted

HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered in football, basketball and baseball… earned All-Conference and All-Metro West honors in football… finalist for All-Michigan… tallied 1,500 yards and 14 touchdowns (1 rushing)… played for coach Jermain Crowell… football team won the league championship and made a playoff appearance in 2015… his sophomore year also won a league championship and advanced to the playoffs… in baseball earned All-League, All-District and All-Conference honors

PERSONAL: Born April 13, 1998… No. 1 sports highlight was beating Dearborn Fordson for the league his sophomore year and threw the game-winning touchdown… his father has been a major influence and someone he most admires, “He has always been there for me. He has been a football and baseball coach my whole life.”… his older brother played football at Saginaw Valley State… enjoys ping pong… favorite professional teams are the New England Patriots, Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Cavaliers… listens to all music… son of Mike and Beth Sampson
