Matchup history: Western Illinois and Omaha have played 11 times in program history and Western holds a 5-5-1 record. Their last matchup came during the spring season, with the teams playing twice on April 2 and April 4. The first game was a 2-2 draw, the second a 0-1 loss.

Players to watch: Sam Brooks played a season-high 65 minutes in the team's last game against Denver. The senior from Freeport, Ill., has made 25 appearances in her Leatherneck career.

"It was nice getting to see Sam play on Sunday," associate head coach Josee Primeau said. "She was able to come in and really help the back line. She's a solid defender, plays simpler, and works hard and that's exactly what she did against Denver."

In her first season of collegiate soccer, Emmy Ellington has been a regular contributor for the Leathernecks. She's made it on both the score sheet and has recorded at least one assist this season, making seven starts in ten appearances and playing a full 90 minutes against Drake.

"Emmy has continued to grow tremendously this season. She knew coming in as a freshman there would be a big jump but she's adjusted really well and is playing with more confidence," Primeau said. "She gives us good balance in the midfield."

So far this season: WIU women's soccer is currently in the midst of a strong stretch of performances, winning seven of their last nine – a period that in included six-straight wins. After losing the first game of Summit League action to SDSU, they rebounded and defeated South Dakota 2-1 on Sunday (Oct. 3). Amy Andrews scored two goals and is now within striking distance of several program records.

Scouting the opponent: The Mavericks are 3-5-2 on the season and coming off a home loss to Denver. Three different players have scored, and Andrea Daves leads the team with two assists.

What's next: The Leathernecks will continue their home stand with a Sunday (Oct. 10) matchup against Denver. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at John MacKenzie Alumni Field.
