MACOMB, Ill. - Having made its way to week five of Summit League play, Western Illinois volleyball (3-18, 2-8) hosted Omaha (12-8, 9-1). The visitors maintained control to win the night in three sets (17-25, 15-25, 15-25).
Western started hot with a 5-0 clip. However, Omaha pulled a 4-1 run to cut the Leathernecks' lead to 8-7 before eventually taking a narrow lead. The first portion of set two stayed pretty even, as a Kalynn Davis kill had Western trailing 11-10. Following a few more traded possessions, Omaha totaled seven unanswered points before committing two service errors. Nevertheless, the second period ended in the Mavericks' favor, 25-15.
Omaha jumped out big in set three, 10-3. Down 16-4 soon afterward, the Davis twins and Kaitlyn Morgan all helped give WIU additional kills, but the Leathernecks were again downed 25-15 as the evening concluded in Western Hall.
