Dorshorst Clears Competition at Wisconsin River Vault

The Leathernecks’ rising sophomore claimed yet another pole vault win.

LA CROSSE, Wis. – With her freshman season now in the rearview mirror, Tia Dorshorst is already preparing for what's to come. She is a Western Illinois pole vaulter already ranked Top 10 in the program's outdoor history, and over the Fourth of July weekend, she claimed first place at the Wisconsin River Vault.

"It was my first time competing at the River Vault, and I came home with a first-place trophy in the college division," exclaimed Dorshorst. "I am continually amazed by what a great community the sport of pole vault has. I met so many incredible people at this meet, and feel very blessed to have opportunities like this to further my career and continue to improve."

The college division included student-athletes from all over the Midwest, and Dorshorst cleared a height of 11'6" to take home the win.

At 12 feet even, her inaugural Leatherneck campaign featured the third-best outdoor jump in women's history, and in seven events, she tabbed a pair of wins (Musco Twilight, Tom Botts Invitational) as well as a second-place finish (Mizzou Spring Open).
