MVFC First Team All-Academic

Kyle Williams and Clint Ratkovich get things done on the field and in the classroom.

ST. LOUIS – For the second time in as many years, Western Illinois football student-athletes Kyle Williams and Clint Ratkovich have been voted to the Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Academic Team. 

The honor, announced Wednesday (Dec. 4) comes as no surprise for the first team selections as Williams recently received national attention as a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree and Ratkovich joined several MVFC all-conference represented. 

Tom Rehfeld was also named honorable mention on the Valley academic list. 

#91 Kyle Williams, DE, 6-4, 265, Jr., Lebanon, Ind., Lebanon, GPA: 3.844, Medical Sciences

2018 & 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District ... recorded 39 tackles (15 solo) with 6.5 TFLs ... second on the team with 3.5 sacks ... recorded a strip sack fumble vs. Missouri State and returned it 10 yards for his first career TD

#25 Clint Ratkovich, FB, 6-1, 220, Jr., Crete, Ill., Crete-Monee, GPA: 3.719, Engineering Technology

2019 First Team All-MVFC …... recorded his 1,000th career receiving yard vs. Illinois State ... ranks third in the MVFC in receptions per game (4.8) ... finished second on the team with 444 receiving yards while adding a team-high 258 rushing yards ... six touchdowns on the year (all in MVFC action) ... two-year captain 

#22 Tom Rehfeld, LB, 6-3, 225, Sr., Chicago, Ill., St. Rita, GPA: 3.501, Master of Public Health

graduated this past May with a degree in nursing ... a registered nurse ... voted team captain this season ... finished second on the team, 13th in the Valley with 84 tackles (45 solo); tackle mark quadrupled the total from his first three years of play combined ... led Western (11th in MVFC) in TFLs (11.0) ... recorded his first career interception vs. Southern Illinois
