Peterson Snags Pair of Individual Wins at Home

The sophomore, Adam Peterson won a pair of individual events during the home-opener

MACOMB, Ill.- The Western Illinois swimming and diving programs hosted their first home meet of the season against Saint Louis on Saturday (Nov. 9) in a dual highlighted by four individual victories on the men's side. The Billikens won both meets head-to-head.
 
"I am very happy with the overall performance of both teams," head coach Scott Johannsen said. "The last two weeks have been a learning experience for all of us. I'm very excited about what both teams are capable of accomplishing."
 
Although limited in practice, Adam Peterson netted two first-place finishes in the 50-free (21.06) as well as the 100-free (47.69). Brennan Bladel took first place in the 200-IM (1:57.66). Connor Owens registered first in the 100-breast (59.97).
 
On the Western Illinois women's swimming side, Miranda Mathus logged second in the 200-IM (2:13.33). Newcomer Allison Spielman came in second place in the 100-free (55.57) after her Brophy Hall debut.
 
Both Leatherneck squads head to the prestigious House of Champions meet next in Indianapolis Nov. 22-24.
