Men's Golf Caps Off Tournament With Fourth-Place Finish

Western Illinois finished fourth in the 11-team field.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Western Illinois men's golf tied for fourth at The Twin Oaks Intercollegiate shooting a three-round total of 884 (+32).

Bradley won the event at nine-over, followed by SIUE (+12) and Missouri State (+12), while the Leathernecks tied with South Dakota.

"We had a really solid tournament at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate at Missouri State" said head coach Mel Blasi. "All five guys contributed and played very well at times. During the two days of the tournament, we saw about every condition and the winds blew from every direction. Our 288 in the second round was one of our lowests of the season and really put us in good position going into the third round. Jackson Wetherbee was once again really consistent and everyone else stepped up this week."

The 288 was also the lowest team total in the second round out of all 11 programs.

Jackson Wetherbee finished tied for 11th shooting 3-over with a three-round total of 216. His 71 (-1) in the third round was also three strokes shy of his career-best.

Sean Miller tied for 28th with a 224 (+11), while Trent Snodgrass tied for 35th with a 226 (+13). The freshman's second-round score of 71 also tied his season-best for the third time.

Tied for 40th was Kyle Irlbacker finished with a 227 (+14), while Drew Eaton concluded the team score with a 234 (+21) to tie for 58th.

Competing as individuals, John Duggan III tied for 40th after scoring a 227 (+14), while Trey Timpe shot 23-over with a 236 to tie for 65th.
Western Illinois returns to action at in-state rival Illinois State March 30-April 2. Competition is set to take place in Normal, Ill. for the Illinois State Invitational.
