Leathernecks Finish 13th At ORU-SFA Spring Break Challenge

FINAL RESULTS

NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Western Illinois men's golf closed out the final day of the Oral Roberts-Stephen F. Austin Spring Break Challenge with a round-best of 296.

The Leathernecks finished 13th out of 16 teams with a total of 913 (+67). Jackson Wetherbee (T-11th) posted a 70 on the final day to give him a total of 219 (+6), which is two strokes shy of his career-best.

"We improved every day of the tournament and really played a solid round today," said head coach Mel Blasi. "If not for three late bogeys, we would have had one of the low rounds of the day. Jackson Wetherbee played a great round with four birdies and two eagles to shoot 1-under at 70. Sean Miller also hung in there after a slow start and played the last 15 holes even par. We will take a lot of positives from this tournament. It was a great test of golf with great competition."

Following the junior was freshman Trent Snodgrass, who finished with a 3-day today of 227 (80-71-76) to finish 14-over. Both Kyler Irlbacker and Sean Miller tied for 71st with 3-round totals of 234 (+21).

Sophomore Drew Eaton rounded out the team scores with a round-best of 76, which gave him a total of 242 (+29).

The Leathernecks have a quick turnaround, as they return to action March 19-20 at the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate, hosted by Missouri State. The competition will take place in Springfield, Mo.
