Moody Sets Personal-Record At The Summit League Championships

OMAHA –
 Corey Moody's personal-record led the Western Illinois men and Nicole Beebe finished first for the Leatherneck women on Saturday (Oct. 27) at The Summit League Championships in Omaha. Western Illinois' men tied for fifth with 148 points while the women carried seventh with 192 points.
 
Moody's 26:57.0 time in the 8K netted him 26th and was his best time in the event of his Leatherneck career. Lucas Lingle trailed Moody by finishing 30th in 27:11.8 and Ross Smetzer (27:25.9) and Lucas Howett (27:33.5) collected 32nd and 33rd place, respectively.
 
The Leatherneck men also saw Quintin Thurman (29:18.7, 49th), Braden Pridemore (30:21.1, 51st) and Cameron Schroeder (30:22.8, 52nd) compete.
 
In the women's 6K, Beebe crossed the finish line the fastest of any Leatherneck, registering 32nd in 22:56.0. Abigail Richter (23:58.7) and Hailey Tranchitella (24:14.9) collected 43rd and 45th, respectively. Mackenzie Goldring (24:58.5) and Elyse Mathews (25:09.2) tallied respective places of 51st and 53rd.
 
Jacey Roper (25:50.3, 57th) and Kaitlyn Mathews (26:15.1, 61st) also competed for the Purple and Gold women.
 
Western Illinois finishes the 2018 cross country season on Friday, November 9 at the NCAA Midwest Regionals at Bradley University in Peoria.
