Western Illinois tied the match in the 68th minute before a 2-1 road loss.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The Western Illinois women's soccer team (3-13-1, 0-7-0) had multiple chances against Purdue Fort Wayne (4-12-3, 1-7-0) but fell by a score of 2-1 on Thursday, Oct. 25.

"We played really well tonight," Director of Soccer Dr. Eric Johnson said. "We created quality chances and didn't allow much the other way."

Off a corner kick by Cassidy Grunewald, Zoe Clarke ripped a shot in the box in the fifth minute that was corralled by the Mastodon goalkeeper. Only thirty seconds later, Grunewald took the ball back and fired a shot that was knocked away. Down 1-0 at halftime, the Leathernecks answered in the 68th minute when Emily Bollman crossed the ball inside the box to Zoe Clarke to knock it into the back left corner of the net. The Mastodons regained the lead in the 74th minute after a yellow card on Ashley Kuhlmann. Wisniewski took advantage by striking the penalty kick into the left corner of the net for a 2-1 advantage.
