The Leathernecks have back-to-back road bouts against Kentucky and Eastern Illinois.

MACOMB, Ill. — Western Illinois women's soccer travels to Lexington, Ky. and Charleston, Ill. to take on Kentucky and Eastern Illinois in a pair of Friday-Sunday road contests. The Leathernecks are slated to take on the Wildcats (Sept. 8) at 5 p.m., while they will do battle with the Panthers at 1 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 10).
 
LAST TIME OUT:  
The Western Illinois women's soccer team fell on the road to Milwaukee 3-0 on Sept. 1, Natalie Nagle led the way for the Leathernecks as she recorded three shots, including two on goal. Emily Bollman also logged three shots in the match, but all were left wide.
 
A LOOK AT YOUR LEATHERNECKS:
Thus far, Western Illinois is still searching for its first win and goal of the season, but holds a 25-24 shots on goal advantage over the opponents. The Leathernecks' 25 shots on goal are also out of 46 attempts—19 attempts less than the opponents' combined 64 attempts. Overall, Western Illinois holds a .543 shots on goal percentage compared to the opponents' .375.  
 
Natalie Nagle leads the program with six shots on goal through four matches played, followed by the duo of Madeline Edwards and Bridget Schuler with four shots on goal each. Edwards also holds a team-high 11 shots this season.
 
SCOUTING KENTUCKY:
The Wildcats are 2-4-0 overall with victories over Eastern Kentucky (3-1) and Wyoming (2-1, OT). They have losses to Wisconsin (1-0), Marquette (2-1), Louisville (3-1) and Florida State (4-0) - which puts them currently on a two-game skid. This will be the first meeting in both of the programs' history.  
 
Tanya Samarzich leads the team with seven points and a team-high 14 shots and three goals. She also has a team-high five shots on goal this season. Eva Mitchell ranks second on the team with four points off one goal and two assists. The program is led by head coach Ian Carry, who is in his first season at the helm of the program.
 
SCOUTING EASTERN ILLINOIS:
Eastern Illinois is 3-2-1 overall this season coming off a 5-1 Sept. 3 victory over Chicago State. The team also has wins over IUPUI (1-0) and Green Bay (1-0), with losses to Milwaukee (2-0) and Valparaiso (3-2, OT). The team's lone tie is to Indiana State (1-1).

Pilar Barrio leads the Panthers with a team-high five points and 10 shots. She and Sarah DeWolf are tied for the most shots on goal with five this season. This will be the 17th meeting between the two programs, as WIU trails the all-time series 5-9-2. In the last meeting, the Leathernecks defeated the Panthers 3-2 in double-overtime on Aug. 28, 2015 at home.
 
LOOKING AHEAD:
Western Illinois closes out the six-game road slate with a matchup at Ball State (Sept. 15) at 5 p.m. The Leathernecks follow with their second home match of the season against Chicago State (Sept. 17) for a 1 p.m. kick.
