Claire Grove named to Summit League 'Players To Watch' List

The sophomore is one of nine players to be named to watch list

ELMHURST, Ill.—The Summit League 'Players to Watch' list was released Thursday (Aug. 17), and sophomore Claire Grove was named to the preseason accolade list.

The Naperville, Ill. native appeared in 31 matches in her freshman campaign, including 20 starts for the Purple and Gold. She ranked fifth on the team in kills with 112 and recorded a season high of 13 against South Dakota State.

She also was an integral part of the defensive scheme for the Leathernecks as she recorded 217 digs, good for third best on the team. Grove amassed 10 or more digs in eight matches in 2016, including a season high 21 digs against Eastern Illinois.

The Leathernecks begin their season against Manhattan on Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. as part of the 2017 Hampton Inn Leatherneck Invitational (Aug. 25-26) in Western Hall.
