Balanced Scoring Leads Western During Final Round

All five golfers within four strokes of each other to close out the Hoosier Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Western Illinois saw all five golfers shoot within four strokes of each other during the final round of the Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana Sunday (April 2).

The Leathernecks shot 875 for the weekend, finishing eighth in the 14-team field and just five strokes from a top five finish.

"We played very well and very consistent at the Indiana Invitational. Jackson Wetherbee played great yesterday with an even par day of 71-71. Drew, Sean, Kyle and Andrew all had consistent tournaments," said head coach Mel Blasi. "This was a very good field, and in order for us to contend we need to find a few shots from each player, mostly on and around the greens."

Andrew Blackburn turned in the low round for Western with an even par 71, tying for the 10th lowest round of the day. Drew Eaton shot 73 followed by Sean Miller at 74.

Jackson Wetherbee and Kyle Irlbacker each shot a 75. Wetherbee finished in a tie for 23rd overall with his 217.

Western returns to action on April 10-11 at the Missouri Tiger Invitational.
