WIU's Kyle Irlbacker Tied for Fifth After Day One of Colin Montgomerie HPU Invitational

The freshman golfer fired a 67 (-5) in round one and has a two-round total of 142 to begin tournament play

DAY ONE RESULTS

SPRING, Tex. - Western Illinois opened competition in the Colin Montgomerie HPU Invitational Monday and freshman Kyle Irlbacker is tied for fifth place with a two-round total of 142. The Cary Grove, Ill. native opened play with a 67 (-5) in the opening round before carding a 75 in round two.

As a team, the Leathernecks are in eighth place with a 591 with day-one scores of 292 and 299.

Junior Sean Miller finished each of the first two rounds with a 74. His day-one total of 148 has him in a tie for 31st heading into Tuesday's final 18 holes.

Finishing day one with a 150 was Andrew Blackburn. The senior is tied for 40th and recorded scores of 75 in both rounds one and two.

One stroke behind Blackburn is freshman Drew Eaton who owns a 151 (76-75) and is tied for 49th place, and rounding out the Leathernecks' top five on day one was sophomore Jackson Wetherbee who is tied for 67th with a 155 (80-75).

The third and final round of the invite is slated for Tuesday (Feb. 28).
