Leathernecks Send Seven To NCAA Midwest Regional

Western Illinois women to run 6k, men to compete in 10k

MACOMB, Ill. – The Western Illinois men's and women's cross country teams will send seven runners to compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday (Nov. 10) at the Iowa State Cross Country Course in Ames. The women's 6k race will start at 10:45 a.m., with the men's 10k run to follow at 11:45 a.m.
 
The Western Illinois women will bring Abigail Richter, Nicole Beebe, Jacey Roper and Hailey Tranchitella to compete amongst 35 teams at the regional. The top two finishing teams will qualify for the NCAA Championships.
 
The Leatherneck men feature Grant Kaiser, Lucas Lingle and Ross Smetzer. Western Illinois will compete against 30 schools, with the top two squads also qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
 
Western Illinois is coming off an appearance in The Summit League Championships, where the Leatherneck men earned a fifth-place finish and the women registered sixth. Lingle's 26:34.90 time in the 8k bested the Western men, and Richter had a time of 22:32.54 in the 6k to lead the women. Both of those performers placed 24th overall, respectively.
