Women Finish Third, Men Fifth, at Bradley Intercollegiate

Madison Lefler, Grant Kaiser lead Western for the second week in a row

PEORIA, Ill. – The Western Illinois cross country team competed at the 30th annual Bradley Intercollegiate on Friday, September 16. The women placed third overall with 96 points, while the men finished fifth with 125 points.

The squads competed against several teams, including hosts Bradley, UIC, Arkansas State, Northwestern, Green Bay and Chicago State.

For the second straight week, Madison Lefler led the Leathernecks on the three-mile course. The senior finished 11th overall with a time of 18:13. Freshman Abigail Richter followed close behind, crossing the finish line in 18:19 to place 13th. Nicole Beebe placed 14th overall with a time of 18:21. Stephanie Robles (26th, 19:35) and Jaclyn Finney (32nd, 19:59) also competed for the Purple and Gold.

Grant Kaiser led the way for the men's team, finishing 21st in 26:38. Lucas Lingle clocked a time of 27:01 on the 8k course to place 23rd. Right behind him was Corey Thompsen, who placed 24th overall with a time of 27:15. Adam Brauer (27th, 28:01), Keiffer Sexton (30th, 28:18) and Mark Kouchoukos (34th, 28:37) also represented for the Leathernecks.

Western returns to action on September 23, when they travel to Rock Island, Ill., for the Brissman Lundeen Invitational.
