Men's Golf Concludes Twin Oaks Invite in Fifth Place

FINAL RESULTS

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Western Illinois men's golf team finished Missouri State's Twin Oaks Intercollegiate in fifth place out of 11 teams, as the Leathernecks wrapped up the event Tuesday with a 899 (290-306-303).

"We definitely made enough birdies and played enough good golf to finish in the top 2 or 3 in this tournament, but we made too many mental errors that cost us in rounds two and three," said head coach Mel Blasi. "We have a young squad that's still learning and I know this tournament will make us better. Andrew Blackburn played terrific from tee to green. It was nice to see him back in the mix."

Andrew Blackburn led WIU with a 220 after posting single-round marks of 71, 75 and 74. The junior's three-round total placed him in ninth, his third 'Top 10' finish of the year.

Tying for 16th place was senior Alex Templin who finished with a 225. Templin shot a 72 in round one, a 75 in the second round, and a 78 during the final 18 holes.

Three stokes behind Templin was freshman Adam Falk who tallied a 228 and tied for 28th place. Falk carded scores of 71, 79 and 78 in the three rounds, respectively.

Sophomore Sean Miller, who tied for 33rd place, finished with a 230 (76-78-76), one stroke ahead of freshman Jackson Wetherbee who recorded a 231 (78-78-75).

Graham Conrad, a freshman golfer, competed as an individual and finished tied for 57th place with a 243 (81-83-79).

The Leathernecks continue their spring season April 2-3 with Indiana's NYX Invite.
